It was the middle of the night, it had to be. Smoking never made me sleep more than 6 hours, and I never saw the clock hit 9pm. But I could have sworn I heard something scratch along the kitchen floor. My nerves were completely shot. Thankfully I had some weed on hand, that always made my paranoia calm down a bit. I decided to unwind with some TV and a nice bowl of Frosted Flakes.
Before I could even get one foot off the ground, something slid the sliding glass door wide open, without closing it shut. It was then, even when I was completely stoned without a care in the world, I knew that something was wrong. I was trembling with a shiver so deep down that I couldn't shake it. I didn't know what I was doing, suddenly my hand was turning the knob on my door. I couldn't believe where I was going.
Before I knew it, I was standing in the kitchen, staring at a sliding glass door completely off its track. I couldn't bring myself to imagine the horror that was able to take that door completely off its track. "Where in the hell was everyone else," I began to wonder as I doubled back to check on the family. First up, parents room. I knocked on the door, to no avail. Every attempt I made to open the door set my imagination further into madness. Minutes seemed stretched into hours and I was beginning to lose grip of reality, thanks in part to the leafy green I just inhaled. I had to check her room before it was too late.
I managed to make it across the hall and successfully into our room. The site of my fiance sleeping soundly in our bed dissolved any fear I had. As I was about to climb into bed and put this incident to rest, a horrible crashing noise put a lump in my throat and a stop to my heart. "That sounded like the shed, but how?" All the questions I asked myself only seemed to bring about more questions and no answers.
I decided to go investigate the noise, if only to protect my family. As I retraced my steps to the kitchen as best as I could, I began to hear slow, high pitched breathing. The shaking made it nearly impossible for me to stand in one place. When I got to the entrance to the back yard, all of my suspicions were confirmed. Even in the darkness of night, I could see the shed door wide open, nearly off its hinges and the breathing became louder. Much louder.
I couldn't stand listening to that horrible noise any longer. I went into the back yard, one painfully slow step after another. I wasn't controlling myself anymore, something was drawing me towards that shed. As I stood directly before it, the shivers were unbearable. I reached a hand out to grab a hold of the door, when a hand reached out and grabbed mine! I was pulled into the shed, and all I could hear was screaming.
